With a monster snow storm in the forecast I made the long drive down to Yosemite National Park hoping for a fresh blanket of powder. However, the storm was too strong and actually closed the park down for a week. Biding my time in the Eastern Sierras until the park reopened I was one of the first dozen cars through the gate that afternoon and was enjoying just how quiet the park was without all the visitors. After some time, I made my way over to the river's edge where the snow had remained untouched for a week with wonderful curves and a still water reflection and I sat and waited. Grey clouds hung over the Yosemite Valley and if there was any chance they would clear I wanted to be right there.
And as luck would have it, I watched as the late afternoon storm slowly moved out and a small gap in the clouds formed to the west. Just enough to let the sun illuminate the glorious El Capitan rock face in golden light. Needless to say I was grinning from ear to ear, all alone, in one of the prettiest places at sunset.
