CURTAIN CALL
Skogafoss, Iceland
On my last night of a trip to Iceland, as I arrived in the parking lot at Skogafoss, the northern lights were slowly meandering across the sky. A little strip of green seems to be trying to stretch something out. I had no luck with the aurora during the entire week-long trip and thought to myself that this was better than nothing. So I gathered my gear and walked out to the waterfall to do some long exposures and hope that with some camera tricks I'd be able to capture the green lights. Then, no more than five minutes after setting my camera up, the Nordic gods flipped a switch and the aurora instantly rose above the mighty waterfall as quickly as a curtain being raised on a stage. And it held almost still for the next 20 minutes. So vibrant to the naked eye, the aurora filled the sky and I couldn't contain my excitement. Grinning from ear to ear and yelling out to the gods! A final curtain call for the trip.
